School-Parent-Student Compact
Valentine Elementary School District 22 and the parents of students participating in activities, services, and programs funded by Title I, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) agree that this compact outlines how parents, school staff, and students will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement. This compact will also outline how the school and parents will collaborate to help students meet or exceed the State’s academic standards. This compact is in effect during the current school year.
School Responsibilities
Valentine Elementary School District staff will:
Provide high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment that enables students to meet or exceed the State’s academic achievement standards by:
Ensuring instruction aligns with Arizona State Standards.
Implementing best teaching practices based on research and data-driven instruction.
Allocating designated time for instruction in core subjects: Math, English Language Arts (Reading and Writing), Science, and Social Studies.
Offering enrichment opportunities such as Physical Education, Music, and Technology.
Providing additional support through intervention, reteaching, and enrichment in Math and Language Arts.
Hold parent-teacher conferences semi-annually, during which this compact will be discussed in relation to individual student achievement.
Fall conferences held in September.
Spring conferences held in February.
Provide parents with regular reports on their child’s progress.
Midterm progress reports sent quarterly.
End-of-quarter report cards distributed each quarter.
Ensure reasonable access to school staff for parents.
Staff will be available for consultation via email, phone, or in-person meetings upon request.
Teachers will utilize the school app’s Rooms feature for direct parent communication.
Provide opportunities for parents to volunteer and observe classroom activities.
Parents may observe classes upon request and with prior arrangement.
Volunteering opportunities are available following district and school protocol.
Parent Responsibilities
As parents, we will support our child’s learning by:
Ensuring regular and timely school attendance.
Monitoring homework completion and providing assistance as needed.
Limiting excessive screen time, including television and social media.
Volunteering in the classroom or at school events whenever possible.
Participating in decisions related to my child’s education, including attending meetings and conferences.
Encouraging positive extracurricular activities and constructive use of time.
Staying informed by reading and responding to school communications.
Serving on school advisory groups, including Title I parent representative roles, school improvement committees, or town hall meetings.
Student Responsibilities
As students, we will take responsibility for our learning and success by:
Completing homework assignments daily and seeking help when needed.
Reading for at least 30 minutes outside of school each day.
Delivering all school communications to our parents or guardians promptly.
Respecting our teachers, classmates, and school staff.
Actively participating in class discussions and school activities.
Following school rules and maintaining a positive learning environment.
Building and Sustaining the School-Parent Partnership
To ensure the effectiveness of this compact, Valentine Elementary School District will:
Regularly review and update the compact based on parent, student, and teacher feedback.
Maintain open communication channels through newsletters, social media, and parent meetings.
Provide workshops and training sessions to help parents support their child's academic success.
Offer accessible and equitable learning environments that promote family engagement and student achievement.
This compact reflects our commitment to working together to support all students in achieving academic and personal success. It will be reviewed annually to ensure its continued effectiveness and alignment with district goals.
